Jeremiah Jones Harmon

Once upon our lives, there was a little boy...

He kind of looked like the boy on the box of Life cereal. :)  

Except I thought he was cuter (he=Jeremiah)...

He was such a sweet little boy!

I loved capturing him and playing with him in my room.

And I loved working with him on school projects.  

Jeremiah was born right around the time we canceled our cable subscription...

which, as you can see, was perfect timing.

His fun-loving spirit has brought so many laughs to our family.

Jeremiah, you have so many gifts. 

 You are funny,

kind and personable,

 and you're really great at drama. :)

One of my favorite memories is working on Fish Tales with you.  

I'm so glad we had that special time together.

 And we still don't have cable...

so thank you for continuing to serve as our family's entertainment.

Happy Sweet Sixteen!!!  (We love you more than March Madness!)

A Girl...AND A Boy!

Dear Emma & Anthony,

11 years ago, one of you was a great surprise to many people.  Everyone could tell that mom had a baby in her belly, they just thought it was a really big baby.  Very few people suspected that she actually had two babies in her belly.  I was pretty excited to be in on the surprise, but I had promised to keep my lips sealed; I could hardly contain myself.  Dad had so much fun calling all of the extended family to tell them that our family had a new baby girl...and a baby boy.  :)

Even as little babies, you loved being together.  Mom put you in the same crib when you were teeny-tiny.  When you grew to be a little bit bigger, she put you in different cribs...but you didn't seem to like that as much.  We would go in to check on you in the mornings and, Emma, you would be in Anthony's crib; in the middle of the night, you had climbed out of your crib and into his.  

You did so many cute things together.  

She pushed....

 He pulled...

And at the end of the day, you were always there for each other.

Hot chocolate?  What hot chocolate? We haven't seen any hot chocolate.

Do you know how much joy you bring our family?

We have not one but two siblings who are beautiful, lively, smart, and not-lacking-in-any-personality.

Abigail Elise Harmon

A long long time ago, in a land that currently feels far far away, I was 13 years old.  And all I wanted in life was a baby sister.  I had plenty of opportunities for fun in our house that was filled with Lego's, and tractors, and stinky socks, and all the other stuff that accompanied my four brothers...but I longed for cute dresses, girl-talk, and pampering parties.  

On the eve of your birth, Mom & Tony packed their bags to go fetch you, our new baby sibling.  Just before leaving for the hospital, they asked if I wanted to go along.  I wasn't really sure what I was in for, but since I rarely enjoyed missing exciting events, I agreed.  Just hours into January 14th, I awoke to a baby screaming and a unanimous, and excited, chorus of, "It's a GIRL!!!!"  

I couldn't believe it.  It was you.  Finally!!!

And I couldn't have dreamed up a better sister. 

We started right away with our pampering parties...

And I always wanted our outfits to match.

Dad loved you so much, he made you a dollhouse bed.  I was a little jealous, but I got over it.

You were a sweet, caring, and easy-going little girl.  

 And you grew... 

And you grew...

And just when I thought you couldn't become any cuter, or any more beautiful, you did...

And now you've grown into a beautiful teenager!!!  You're beautiful on the outside and on the inside.  Thank you for being the thoughtful, easy-going, and selfless sister that you are.

 I'm so thankful that you are my sister.

I hope that you have a Happy, Happy Birthday!  

And I hope that this year is the start of many wonderful memories as a teenager.

Making Our House A Home

After we received our orders to stay at Ft. Sill, Jamie agreed to locate the "lost" stud-finder and help make our house a home.  I have a long list of things I still want to do, but we have accomplished a good bit with little money and a short amount of time.

We have a lot of big wall spaces in the house we are in now, and I don't think we moved a single piece of wall art from Georgia.  My friend Rachel encouraged (and inspired) me to create meaningful spaces based on who we are and where we've been.  I was really excited about this Opekta Jam print...10 points for knowing the history behind it. :) 

Rachel also encouraged me to hang my aprons in the kitchen.  It adds so much color to the room.  

And our favorite furniture shop in town had a mega sale last week.  I still haven't decided where I'm going to put it, but could you pass it up???

October Coffee

Tonight's coffee was held at A Pigment of Your Imagination.   We all choose a piece of pottery to paint.  It was so much fun to see all of the creative ideas; kudos to the girls who hosted the event.

There was lots to chat about tonight, as today we found out where we will all be going (or staying).  Rachel and I are staying, along with some other sweet ladies.

CAUTION: FUN TIMES AHEAD!

We're putting our heads together to plan next month's coffee.  This month's activity will be hard to beat.

Pioneer Woman Favorites

This past week was busy.  We weren't home Monday evening, Tuesday evening, Wednesday evening, or Thursday evening.  So last night, we were excited to stay home.  And I was excited to finally cook our own dinner. 

I made Cajun Chicken Pasta, from The Pioneer Woman Cooks website.  Dinner was served at 8:30, but it was really good--worth the wait.  I made this Cajun Spice Mix, and I used whole wheat fettuccine--which I'm positive negated the unhealthiness of the heavy whipping cream.  I do think that next time I will use less chicken and add some Polish sausage and shrimp.  I also think that this recipe tied with Fancy Macaroni for my all-time favorite PW recipe....another recipe that I feel is healthy because I use whole wheat macaroni.  I've made Fancy Macaroni four times, and, one time, I forgot the goat cheese.  We love goat cheese, but we actually liked the dish better without it.

I would love to know if you've tried any PW recipes, and if so, which ones are your favorites.  There isn't enough butter in Comanche County for me to try them all myself.
